Alumno is a London based company which specialises in student accommodation. They work independently or in partnership with universities and colleges to deliver accommodation for their students’ needs.
The majority of universities have a pressing need for new accommodation and do not have the resources to provide it. Alumno play a pivotal role by delivering much needed bed spaces for universities. This means students have great spaces to live and work in harmony with local communities. Their developments also help to reduce pressure on existing family housing and help educational institutions grow.
Alumno’s main priorities for their accommodation schemes are affordability, location and quality.
Alumno works across the UK and currently have project in London, Norwich, St Andrews, Glasgow and Birmingham.
Camberwell Campus, Peckham Road
In 2012 Alumno completed the redevelopment of Georgian buildings on Peckham Road – formerly offices used by Southwark Council – into student accommodation for the University of the Arts London.
This project reflects four years of work by Alumno and involved extensive consultation with Southwark Council, the University and the local community. The development included the refurbishment of four historic buildings (three of which are Grade II Listed) and a small new build extension to provide 155 bedspaces for the University. This sensitive development provided much needed improvement works to the buildings and ensure their longterm maintenance through sustainable re-use as accommodation. It has provided much needed bedspaces to Camberwell College of Arts and created activity and a campus environment on this section of Peckham Road.
